Frequently Asked Questions

EXCEEDING
EXPECTATIONS

Does Apex Waste still pick up if there is inclement weather?

We try to maintain schedules no matter what. But we will not endanger our drivers.

If we miss your scheduled pick-up, we will try to pick-up on the following day. If bad weather continues for more than one day, know that we will do our best to pick-up your garbage as soon as possible. If you have not received service by the end of the day following your scheduled pick-up day, please call our office.

Any delays or cancellations will be posted on Facebook. Be sure to follow us on Facebook for the most up-to-date information.

Do you provide a cart for residential service?

Yes, we provide 1-95 gallon cart for residential service.

When do I need to have my trash to the curb?

We ask that the cart be placed at the curb the night before your scheduled service day.

My driver always services my account by a certain time. If he is late does that mean he missed me?

We ask that all trash be set out the night before your scheduled day of service.

Although many of our drivers are consistent with the timing of their routes, many factors can affect when we service your home. Route changes, weather delays, truck or equipment issues, vacations/sick days which involve different drivers on routes are just a few examples of why we may be early or delayed in servicing your home.

If you have not received service by 5pm on your scheduled day of service, please contact our office at (574) 896-APEX (2739).

What are unacceptable trash items?

Hazardous waste, dirt, construction debris, industrial waste, chemical products, oil filters, herbicides & pesticides, radioactive material, solvents, paint (except completely dried latex paint cans, no liquids), other flammable liquids, aerosol cans, propane tanks, cooking oil, motor oil, transmission oil/lubricating/hydraulic oil/oil filters, oils mixed with solvents and gasoline, antifreeze, petroleum-contaminated soil/lead paint chips, tires, car batteries, rechargeable batteries, computers, monitors, televisions, microwaves, fluorescent tubes, florescent light bulbs including CFL’s, railroad ties, medical waste, asbestos, barrels, and any liquids.

Apex Waste is NOT authorized to pick up these materials. These materials may NOT be placed in your waste receptacle.

Contact your local municipality or solid waste authority to find out about hazardous waste policies and designated hazardous waste pick up days in your area.

How do I dispose of paint?

Paint products pose a potential threat to the environment and should be handled carefully. Paint and paint products should be dried, hardened (paint hardeners can be purchased at hardware/home improvement stores) or mixed with an absorbent material such as shredded paper or kitty litter to minimize potential impacts. Be sure to secure lids tightly and place in a closed garbage bag.

What should I do with hot ashes?

It is important that no hot ashes are placed in your trash. These ashes present a potential fire hazard and must be handled carefully.

It is important that ashes are adequately cooled before being placed in your trash. A good test to ensure ashes are cool is to place them in a cardboard box or paper bag before throwing them in your garbage.

Never leave these ashes unattended until you have determined they are cool enough for proper disposal. If the ashes are too hot they will begin to burn through the box or bag alerting you that they are too hot to place in the trash.

Does Apex Waste accept e-waste?

NO, Electronic equipment contains large amounts of heavy metals that have the potential to negatively impact the environment and cannot not be placed in your residential waste removal containers.

Contact your local municipality or solid waste authority for information on proper disposal and recycling of electronic equipment in your area.

Will you pick up large bulky items?

Yes, as long as one person can lift the item and carry to the truck.

Please call our office at (574) 896-APEX (2739) to let them know what the item is so we can create a work order for the driver.

Is it necessary to for someone to be onsite for delivery or removal?

It is not necessary to have someone onsite for delivery or removal of the container.

However, please be as specific as possible when answering the delivery questions, as the driver will use their best judgment and place the container in the safest, accessible area when delivering the container.

For removal and servicing of the container; customer agrees to provide unobstructed access to the equipment on the scheduled service and/or pick-up day.
